This is a sponsored review by BlogHer and Purina.
Meet Max. We often refer to him as our first born son. Yes – our dog is a member of our family! My family had dogs growing up, but they were never really family members. But just about 5 years ago, Max joined our family. My husband and I were planning on getting a dog, but we were in the process of remodeling our house, and we were living in my in-laws basement until the house was livable. And then one day, a co-worker of my husband’s came into work with this little guy.My husband called me and told me to come to his work, where we both immediately fell in love with this little fellow. We ended up buying him from the co-worker – even though he wasn’t originally for sale and even though we were almost homeless at the time! But he stole our hearts and was automatically our first child.
I know that this is a food blog, and you may be wondering why I am writing about my dog here. Well, because we consider him a member of our family, what he eats is very important to us. I wouldn’t give my daughter a bowl of second-rate food, and I won’t do that to my dog, either!! So when I had an opportunity to try out Purina’s Pro Plan Selects, I jumped right in! I know that nutrition is not only important for your children, but also for your children with fur!
Max is a bit of a food snob and a picky eater, so taste is also very important. I poured some of the dog food into his bowl, and Max gobbled it right up! With great ingredients like chicken, turkey, beef and salmon, it’s no wonder he loved it! Do you need some more reasons that this is a prime dog food?
- All Pro Plan Selects formulas are made with real, natural chicken, turkey, beef and salmon as the #1 ingredient.
- They use whole grain barley and brown rice for highly digestible sources of carbohydrates.
- They also include high-quality sources of protein including egg protein and pea protein.
- Every formula is created without corn, wheat or soy and artificial colors, flavors and preservatives.
All you have to do is look at the label to know that this is a great way to show your dog that you love him/her!! Purina Pro Plan Selects is only available at pet specialty stores, but your pet is totally worth that extra trip!
Blogher and Purina are giving one of my readers a $100 Visa card. Think of all the dog food you could buy with $100!!

My husband and I have a little dog too: Leland. He IS our child. Haha! He is a constant entertainment for us. There's not a day that goes by that he doesn't make us laugh. I even have an entire section on my blog dedicated to him. :-) As far as the ways we show Leland love, we'll he's spoiled, but some things we do are taking him on walks, giving him raw hide treats, etc. Yay dogs! And Max is too cute!!! Thanks for the giveaway! :-D

ReplyDeleteTake them on walks and to the dog park. That is what they live for!
ReplyDeleteI make sure to spend one-on-one time with my dog, just like I do with my kids.
ReplyDeleteWe have a cat named Lily. I think cats are a *bit* different from dogs. When she wants attention she jumps on our laps and just purrs. So sweet. And my kids chase her around to show their love. lol.
ReplyDeleteI had a cat that I had to leave at my parents house when i moved out but whenever I go home I always let her sleep on me for hours at a time. Thanks!

What an awesome post! I have 2 corgis that are both my kids. Gingerbean is crazy hyper and I have had her since she was 6 weeks old. She is almost 3. Chappy is a rescue and he is almost 9. He is WAY laid back. It is hard to believe that they are the same bred!
ReplyDeleteI show them my love by taking good care of them and learning how to take care of them. We have gone to *charm school*. I think that helped me even more than them. They always have fresh water, I feed them treats and they have their crates...and they love their crates!
Your Max is adorable!!
I pick out high quality food and include them inholiday celebrations
ReplyDeleteI buy Moses dog toys--lots and lots of fluffy dog toys. That he then destroys.

No pets over here. I feel like I can't handle any more than my 3 crazy boys and we are trying to have another....
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway Deborah!
Max is cute! I have two dogs and a foster pup that I love very much! I also have a cat :) I show them I love them by brushing their teeth.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable puppy!!! We don't have a pet right now - our sweet kitty passed away last summer and we are not up for a new one quite yet.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a pet, but my roommate has the cutest dog ever, a puggle! I buy him way too many toys...
ReplyDeleteWe have a dog Rocco, just over a year...he is the king of our house and we love him so. He is addicted to bully sticks so those are his big treats and what we give him to show our love...we have to spell it out just like with a little kid because if he hears "bully stick" he runs to the garage door and waits because he knows that is where we keep them!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a pet but I used to rub my mom's dog's ears because he loved it!
ReplyDeleteI love dogs more than anything. My fiance and I cannot wait to get a dog together when we get married. I hope I win!
ReplyDeleteI make sure to set aside an appropriate amount(aka a lot of) time to cuddle my momma's boy cat every morning and every night before I go to bed. I'm a sucker for his green eyes.
ReplyDeleteMy cat, Crook, rules the roost. He has his own bed, treats and he gets whatever he wants (he just has to meow enough and he get it). Plus, every Thursday is "Canned Food Day" for him (he's on medicated food, so he only gets a can once a week, so we can be sure that he's getting the medicine that he needs from his dry food) and let me tell you, this cat knows when it's Thursday. He comes in our bedroom before my husbands alarm even goes off and as soon as it does, he starts meowing until he gets his can. lol.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a dog right now but we're getting a puppy next month! We're very excited about that! My mother has a dog we all love and we show him we love him by pampering him with toys and treats.

We don't have pets at home anymore, but have 2 grandkitties. They're fun to visit, too.
ReplyDeleteMaggie was our "child" for 5 years before our son was born. She doesn't care too much for him, but she tolerates him. She'll still always be one of the kids
ReplyDeleteI have a cat named Scarface and a dog named Mojo! Of course Mo loves it when I take him on long walks/runs, take him on a special play date to the doggie park or give him treats! And Scarface just loves to be petted!
ReplyDeleteWe do everything to show our kitty we love her! She's totally babied! Lately she's been getting extra wet food snacks because she starts whining when we make sandwiches (she really loves carbs and cheese) and we feel bad!
ReplyDeleteWe have 3 rescue kitties...Riki Tiki, Sassy Lassy and Annie Banannie. They are getting on in years, but still like to play with laser pointers, paper bags and fresh catnip toys.
ReplyDeleteI make sure they have sunny windows where they can sit and watch the birds, warm spots to curl up and nap and plenty of fresh food and water. Right now Annie is sitting on my lap while I type...her fav spot.
Thanks for the purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfedt giveaway!

I have two puppies and a daughter. My dogs are a part of the family and it is a joy to snuggle up with them and have them always near. My dachshund sleeps under the covers snuggled up next to me and my other sweet girl sleeps upside down just in case you get the urge to rub her tummy in the night.
ReplyDeleteI have two puppies and two kitties! They are absolutely all a huge part of our family. :) They actually have an entire double-sized mattress for them to sleep on on the floor of our bedroom!
ReplyDeleteWish I had a dog but my hubby is horribly allergic. I have to get my fix when visit friends.....
ReplyDeleteIzzy has totally taken over our lives, in a good way! Her piles of toys, bully sticks, 2 walks a day while we're at work and agility classes don't make her a spoiled dog, do they?? She is well worth it!!
ReplyDeleteNo pet yet sadly! Waiting til I get my new place to have a pet of my own!

ReplyDeleteTo show my cat that I love her, I feed her Fancy Feast two times a day and give her lots and lots of affection! She really likes to lay on my chest when I'm laying down.
ReplyDeleteI love playing with my two dogs. Both are rescues and are the light of my day! I also buy them lots of treats/goodies. My Lhasa mix is my shadow, he was our first dog. He loves squeaky toys and he has two basketfuls now. My Pug is my husband's baby. She loves food and being petted, so we give her plenty of both, lol!

I take my dog to the Dog Park at least 3 times a week so she has interaction with other dogs and can indulge in play and roam and get exercise. I live in a city that otherwise has a leash law so thank Heaven for Dog Parks.

I have four spoiled rotten pets: 3 cats and an african grey parrot. They get a toy every time I go to the store

I show my cat love by giving her good food, taking good care of her, and letting her sleep on top of me, despite that fact that it means I can't move all night long!

I give my animals alot of attention. I take in extremely abused animals, so they are very happy to have a great home.

I don't have a pet but I let my boss's dog know that I love her by taking her for a walk at lunch.
ReplyDeleteI don't have my own pets but I live with my daughter who has 2 dogs and a bird that thinks he is a dog. Both dogs sleep with her in her king size bed and the big one, 150 lbs snores really loud. She feeds them the best food and I know they think she is their mom. I have to say, the bird is a personality plus animal. I really take him out a lot because he makes me laugh.

Cuddles and play time for our cat. She's also got her own pile of toys to lose under the couch. And for a treat she gets some catnip once in a while. She tries to bury any other kitty treat I've ever offered her. Silly thing.

My cats get lots of love and good food. They love to sit on my lap and Pumpkin likes to drape herself over my shoulder like a real baby. They claim my bed as theirs most of the time.

I had to leave my cat with my mom and it was heartretching! But whenever I visit I sneak her some sour cream and she never leaves me alone after that! Which I adore, of course.
