My favorite dinner tip? Have pre-cooked chicken on hand in the freezer, always!
ReplyDeleteBuy ground hamburger when its on sale. Form patties in between wax paper and place 5-6 burgers in a freezer safe ziploc bag. and keep in freezer. When you want burgers quick just pull out a bag of burgers, defrost, and cook! :)

ReplyDeleteWhen cooking rice, I always cook extra, which I then portion out and freeze flat in freezer bags. Then on busy nights I can have rice ready in just minutes.
ReplyDeleteWhen making mashed potatoes, I always make more than I need. Then, I store them in a plastic container in the refrigerator. When I want to make Shepherd's Pie or another casserole, the potatoes are already made.

ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I'm loving it! I'd also love to win :)
ReplyDeleteI make pre-cooked ground beef (fry it up with dehydrated onions, salt and pepper - package in 1 lb. containers) and chicken (grill it on the bbq and package in about 1 lb. containers.) I freeze it. When a recipe calls for ground beef of chicken, it defrosts in 2-3 minutes in the microwave. So much faster than defrosting the meat raw and in a block, and it is already cooked.
ReplyDeleteMy #1 dinner tip since I live alone is to always know how to turn your leftover into totally different meals so I'm not stuck eating the same thing all week long.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun giveaway. I love reading everyone's responses. My one dinner tip? Have fun and relax! Cooking should be just as enjoyable as eating. Thank you so much for sharing with me tonight...and thanks for all the sweetness you leave on my blog...it means so much to me!
ReplyDeleteThis are great tips, I don't know what else to add! Well, one tip I have is a shortcut to making meatballs. Just spread the meat out in a baking pan and bake, then cut into squares. You can use them in pasta sauce or as slider patties.

Plan dinner the day before. That way, when it gets to be dinner time, you won't be overwhelmed and be tempted to go out to dinner. Plus, cooking at home not only saves you money, but you can control the healthiness of your meal! :-)

Crockpots are awesome and save so much time!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dinner tip is to have a plan - I try to plan out meals at least a week in advance to know what I need to buy or defrost. Avoids last minute trips to store or those time for the drive through because it's all frozen nights.

ReplyDeleteFavorite kitchen tip - chop up the veggies or any other prep ahead of time, either that morning before work or even the night before. It saves a lot of time when everyone gets home from work/school and is starving.
ReplyDeleteI do my prep work for dinner in the morning or early afternoon. I'm usually crabby when I'm hungry and it saves me from chopping off a finger when I'm in a bad mood!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tip is to plan ahead. Make a list so you don't have to go to the grocery store more than once or twice each week. And use the crock pot when you can.

ReplyDeleteMy dinner tip would be to plan, plan, plan. If I don't have my dinners planned out for a week, then I have no idea what to make and no groceries in the house. It makes it much easier on me to just look at my list of dinner ideas on the fridge and know that I have everything to make them and it's all planned out.
ReplyDeleteIn a hurry make eggs. You can do lots with them fast and cheep.

My fav dinner tip would be to always cook extra for future meals, then disguise it...ie leftover roast chicken becomes chicken quesadillas. Extra cooked pork chops are sliced and become a Chinese stir fry two days later.
ReplyDeleteI never serve the same thing two days in a row and my family never gets leftovers, just do overs!

although it's completely unoriginal, one of my best dinner tips is to break out the crockpot--hands-off cooking at its finest!
ReplyDeleteFavorite dinner tip: Whenever I have extra veggies (onions, carrots, celery, etc.), I always pop them in a zippered baggie and toss in the freezer. These are great for adding to soups, stews, etc. AND, whenever I make casseroles (I am the queen of casseroles!), I make 2-3 extra and freeze them!

Dinner tip: Chop veggies and get as much as possible prepared before. I pick one day a week and chop veggies and put things into baggies for the whole week. Or at least I TRY to.
ReplyDeleteI do as much advance preparation as possible but my best tip is to have your husband fix dinner! LOL Mine gets off work at 3:30 and I get off at 5:00 so he has dinner on the table for me every night. I cook on weekends though.
